Who is Watching Who?

The group field dressed two of the dire bears, collected the pelts, and drug the other two back to town.  Groth and Raddick had sustained serious injuries during the ordeal, both did their best to limp the carcasses back.
Once in town the group rested and stocked up on healing supplies.  Fox was smitten with a staff holding 15 charges.  He knew that this could assist them in the bloodiest of battles.  Groth insisted on turning the dire bear pelts into a cloak.  The beast took pride in wearing other beasts.
At the Sheriff's headquarters, Captain Pierce was not suprised to hear of their ordeal out in the farmland.
"We have been dealing with serious issues here in Brownsville.  You all have proved yourselves quite the outfit.  I believe it is time that give you all a little more insight."  Captain Pierce took a more relaxed and trusting tone with the group.  "We have been watching you for some time now and would like to make ourselves known."
Arin and Fox jolted up and assumed a defensive stance.
"What are you speaking of?" Fox pointed an accusatory finger.
"Have a seat gentlemen.  Or should I say Fox and Arin?" he grinned.  "There is a group in Stret known as the Watchers.  We have tentacles reaching out in all directions.  We are interested in flushing out the darkness."
"What is it you want with us?" interjected Aren.
"You have so far proven yourselves to be fighting on the good side of things.  We would like to bring you all into the fold, however there is still more proof to be found.  There is also the matter of finding a sponsor."  The Captain leaned back in his chair.
The group discussed this new matter among themselves.  This appeared to be a route to grander adventures.  Fox and Arin saw it as an opportunity to right the wrongs that had befallen them by the mistress of Stret.
Groth squinted and shook his head.  He was a little unsure of the Captain's alignment.  When they first met he was quite ready to let an innocent man hang.  Now he claims to be a keeper of light in the dark parts of Stret, ready to flush out all that is evil and corrupt.
They decide to deliberate further.  Captain Pierce reminded them that the offer would still be on the table when they returned with the black assassin.
